Lake Chelan

We didn’t even get all of our camping gear and bags unpacked from last weekend before we were off again for another fun weekend.

Several weeks ago Justin's sister started looking at places to stay near Lake Chelan - a popular lake in Eastern Washington. It ends up that Justin's Dad has a friend from high school that owns a condo there and offered to let them rent it this past weekend. Justin's Dad invited us to tag along, but it was a 2-bedroom condo (with a loft) so we were doubtful it would be able to accommodate all 13 Fletchers. Justin’s parents and sister drove over last Wednesday and after finding that the condo was quite spacious told us to come and join them. We left our house early Friday morning and arrived at the lake with just enough time to eat lunch and pick up a few jet skis for the afternoon. I haven't been on a jet ski since I was a teenager which I’ve realized is WAY too long. We had a blast! Each of the kids took a turn (minus Katie) and really enjoyed it. With the extra adult hands around, Justin and I were even able to go out together for a little while.

The condo had a dock right by the pool so it was perfect. This is the view from one of our two balconies.

How sad is it that this was the first time this summer that my kids have been swimming?

Jason was so confident in the water that he got in the pool without anyone watching. I was feeding Katie and asked Justin's mom if Jason was swimming (assuming he still had his life jacket or floatties on). She looked and saw him struggling in the water and jumped in to help him. This happened only a little while after his cousin did the same thing; however instead of being traumatized by the experience like she was, Jason was oblivious to the danger he was in and was pulled out if the pool completely unfazed. Jason and Hannah are great little buddies.

The plan was to spend Saturday at a local water park, but the free pool at the condo was too enticing for Justin and I so we decided to hang out there instead.

The kids watched some Saturday morning cartoons.

Katie did awesome and didn’t mind hanging out poolside all day long.

Saturday was Katie’s first time in a swimming pool. It may not look like it, but she did enjoy it.

We didn't get home til nearly 11pm on Saturday. Waking the kids up to get ready for 9am church came much too soon, but thankfully everyone took a nap afterward. We're already looking forward to returning next summer, but next time we'll have to plan on staying more than one night. Thanks for letting us join in on a fun weekend Grandma & Grandpa – we had a great time!
