Labor Day Campout

We had one last adventure before we were ready to let summer go – our annual Labor Day campout with Snoqualmie friends.  Strange to start school and then two days later have a three day holiday weekend.  We almost had to cancel our reservation due to the fires in eastern Washington, but thankfully there was enough rain in the days leading up to the weekend that we were able to make it happen.

It’s become tradition to chow at Café Rio on our way to the campsite – so yum!  We got in late on Friday night and stayed through Sunday evening.

We didn’t have a boat this year, but the Millers put together a giant kickball slip-n-slide.

The kids had fun sliding around before the official game began.

Teams were assigned by lining everyone up oldest to youngest and counting off 1-2-1-2…

I don’t remember any of the game results besides everyone had a great time.

Laura took out Abigail sliding into second.  Abigail is actually under Laura (you can only see her hand and some leg), Skyler is also in the pool (you can see her head) and Drew is trying to get out of danger.    

Drew spent a lot of time on third base with Skyler.  Drew is a fan favorite for sure.

This kid was lovin having a few dogs around to play with.  Rufus was quite tolerant, but apparently he’d had enough by Saturday night and bit Drew on the arm.  It wasn’t serious, but enough that I could give the Barlow’s a hard time. :)

There was also a marshmallow spitting contest.

We woke up to rain on Sunday morning so we hung out a little longer in the tent before getting up for breakfast and heading off to church. 

It was interesting driving into Chelan and seeing the hillsides scorched from the massive fires they had this year.  Since it was fast Sunday several people shared their experiences with the wildfires and the uncertainty of whether they would lose their homes. 

There were lots of games played and food eaten over the weekend.  I always love opportunities like this to get together with friends for an extended amount of time and make wonderful memories.  I’m already looking forward to next year!
