Justin gets a good amount of vacation days each year and
since we sadly don’t have any actual vacations in the works he’s taking several
days off this summer while the kids are home. Friday, July 18th was one of those days. We decided go on a family hike in the
morning. There are many, many
hikes nearby to choose from. We
decided on Franklin Falls a short 2-mile round-trip family-friendly hike. It is located near Denny Creek, which
we hiked last summer.
Unfortunately, I opted to leave my good camera at home,
which left us Justin’s phone to document the experience – I can’t wait to get a
phone that takes decent pictures!
This was Drew’s first hike in the child backpack and he
loved it. He was a bit nervous
when we were putting him inside it, but once Justin strapped him in and stood
up, Drew was all smiles.

The only somewhat challenging part of the hike is navigating
along the narrow rocky ledge to the bottom of the falls. They were quite slippery, but we didn’t
have any falls. Now that I think
of it this might be the first hike that nobody tripped the entire day!
Drew was really quiet the whole hike it was easy to forget
he was even there (though I doubt his chauffeur would agree).
We let Drew sleep for a few hours at home before waking him
up to go swimming with Justin’s family.
Tami helps a lot with her kid's swim team so she was able
to get us in for a free afternoon of swimming. Justin’s Dad brought all the food necessary for a
poolside BBQ. It wasn’t the warmest
day, but the kids didn’t mind.
Drew loves balls of any kind and has quite the arm.
Drew also loves water and didn’t mind getting his face wet.
Katie still isn’t a great swimmer, even with floaties she
prefers to literally hang on someone.
Hannah was so good about playing with Katie.
A fun family day!
