First thing
Friday morning we hopped on our bikes to ride along the river trail. It was
such a beautiful ride. The river was so still and peaceful; it was easy to
be overcome with gratitude for the beauty surrounding us.
I was so caught
up in just enjoying the experience with my family. It took us about an hour and
a half to meander our way back to the house. I'd guess we biked at least five
miles. The kids did great. Jason still rides his beat up, orange ghetto bike
and neither he nor Carly have gears to make bike rides easier, but there wasn't
any complaining. Katie just chilled in the bike trailer and pointed out each
and every deer, goose, dog, or squirrel she saw.
I love
that the community is so bike friendly that they’ve created tunnels so you
don’t have to cross any busy roads.
It was back to the pool after lunch to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. Justin and Katie took a little break to lie down and rest in the shade.
Katie only slept
for about 15 minutes, but she quietly laid there for over an hour while Justin finished
his nap.
Just
chillin’
Our evening bike
ride that night found us again in the village.
Cute
even when raggedy
We picked up a few carrots in the small grocery store for lunch the following day. While browsing the store we happened upon the candy aisle. We let the kids pick out a few munchies.
Paying close attention
to the cost per ounce
There was a live
band playing outside so we found a grassy area to sit down and enjoy our treats
with the kids.
Can you see our
big pile of wrappers?
Katie had a huge
chunk of Starburst stuck on her top teeth. She didn’t seem to mind, but it made us laugh everytime she
smiled or talked.
When Justin and I
were dating we often went to a park and relaxed on a blanket in the shade. We
loved that quiet time to ourselves away from roommates and school. Having a
similar moment with my family will remain one of my favorite memories of this
trip. I am so grateful for these moments of pure happiness; we had so many
during this trip!
The sun was
setting behind Mt. Bachelor on our way back to the house that night. Another
awe moment!
