Justin was able to work from home on the afternoon
on October 21 so I could go with Katie on her field trip to the pumpkin patch
at Camp Korey. It was only a short
10-15 minute drive on the bus out through Carnation farmland. Katie asked me if the hay bales covered
in white plastic were really big marshmallows – so cute!
Our group started with a tour through the herb
garden where we were able to try tasting a few different leafs – one tasted
like black licorice (yuck!) but there were some that were surprisingly
tasty. Katie wasn’t much of a fan.
Next
up was a fun hayride via tractor.
Katie was being a little camera shy.
It was fun to be there with our friends. No clue who that kid in the middle is.
We were told we could take home any pumpkin we
could carry. There was a small
patch of perfectly sized pumpkins for kindergarteners, but I took some cutters
and went back to the large fields and cut myself a much larger pumpkin. Boy did that sucker get heavy lugging
it back to the bus and school. No
regrets though. Katie had no
problem carrying her cute little pumpkin.
We enjoyed yummy oven-baked smores and a short
little presentation on some sort of beans before heading back to the school.
