Abigail had three extra weeks of summer since she’s
participating in the running start program for the next two years. Instead of attending classes at the
high school she attends classes at Bellevue College, approximately 20 minutes
away. Most of her friends are also
enrolled in running start so she’s had a great carpool of friends to go with
each day after seminary.
I get asked often if Abigail misses high school at all and
it is an unmistakable, absolutely not.
There are more options for classes at the college and she loves that
she’s home by noon each day so she has more time for homework, working or even
socializing. She still
participates in the sports at the high school so she feels as connected to the high
school as she’d like. The HUGE
plus is that she is fulfilling both her high school graduation requirements and
the courses necessary to receive an associate’s degree when she graduates. Two years of free college.
Waking up before seminary (before 5:45am) to take a “first
day of school” photo of Abigail was much to early for me so she sent me a
bathroom selfie from the college campus.
Sufficient, yes?
I still asked her to pause
on the porch when she got home for a more traditional shot.
Abigail is still working at the physical therapy office
(since Feb 2018) and babysitting as often as her schedule allows. Responsible as always and doing great
balancing homework, working, sports, etc…
She’s a keeper!
