They don't let you hang out
long on disembarking day. We packed our last minute things into our backpacks,
ate breakfast and headed off to collect our baggage and get through customs. We
wasted about 20 minutes after all that hemming and hawing about how to get to
the car rental place. Justin and I travel much differently, he's slow, a bit
panicked and indecisive. Not the best fit for my impatient self, but we finally
got there and all was well. We were planning to do a little 90-minuite river
cruise in Fort Lauderdale since we didn't have to head to the airport until the
afternoon. By the time Justin decided to commit it was too late to buy tickets
online, we barely make it to the dock, like with seconds to spare, before they
pulled off. The tour was fun. The mansions and yachts along the river are
impressive.

The
Areti yacht was impressive! Was
built for over $150,000,000! It has a crew of 31 on board and each time she is
filled up with gas it costs $500,000.
The tour also took us into the
port and the guide showed us "the largest ship in the world!" and we
were like yup, we just spent a week onboard that beauty. It was cool to see it
docked next to other ships. You really could tuck a whole ship inside of ours.
We grabbed lunch at three
different locations cause sometimes it's just easier to get everyone what they
want and then it was off to the airport to start making our way home.
Our flight out of Florida was
delayed because some kid on board kept vomiting as we were taxiing. We had a
tight connection to make in Baltimore so I was concerned about getting
underway. My second thought was that this kid better not get my kids sick. No
sympathy, right? We flew Spirit
Airlines on the way home, which was just as uncomfortable as Frontier. Drew took out the emergency pamphlet
while we were waiting to takeoff and exclaimed, “This is what we get to do if
we crash!”
We had just enough time in
Baltimore to pickup some Dunkin Donuts (Christmas boxes in February?!?). We saw so many Dunkin Donut stores in
Florida that we couldn’t pass up our last chance to partake.
We arrived into Seattle around 10:30pm PST and got home
around midnight. It was actually
quite easy to wake up for 9am church since we were still used to EST. I remember that after church was quite
the post-vacation let down. We
needed to get everything unpacked and gear up for school/work the next morning,
which was not at all fun or relaxing.
We gotter done though. So
glad we made the last minute decision to go on this trip. I love traveling with my family and
can’t wait for our next adventure!
