We weren't in any rush to hit
the road the next morning. I think it was close to 11 before we were ready to
leave the Gulf of Mexico behind and head to the Atlantic. The two hour drive
was uneventful. We thought about doing an airboat tour in the everglades but
didn't think it would be worth the extra time and cost. Our room in Fort
Lauderdale was ready when we arrived – a few of the kids decided to check out
the comfiness of the beds.
We gobbled up some Little
Ceasers and headed to Fort Lauderdale Beach for the afternoon.
Drew seems to never tire of the
ocean. He is quite fearless
(thankfully we brought a lifejacket).
Our
afternoon at the beach was followed by another evening of nighttime swimming at
the hotel.
Abigail opted to hang out in
the room and read (and finish) My Story by Elizabeth Smart. I recently read it
for the second time for my book group and thought she would enjoy it (she did).
Justin and I had the hotel gym to ourselves for the second night in a row.
Knowing we wouldn't have access to doing laundry on the ship, we decided to do
a "quick" load that took until 2am and two turns in the dryer to
finish, grrr!
