Boston {Day 5}

Justin’s classes ended at noon today, which is 9am PST so the perfect time for me to start my day.  Justin ran early several mornings during the week, including today and took a couple pictures along his route.

We’d planned on renting a car today and driving down to Newport, Rhode Island to venture along the Cliff Walk and old mansions along the coast; however, Justin botched up the itinerary when he realized we couldn’t tour Fenway Park on Saturday and would need to do it today instead.  Boo.  So it was off to the ballpark.

We made our way to the North End and hit up Mike’s Pastry for a few cannolis.  It was much more crowded today than earlier in the week.  Still yum!

We ate them outside Paul Revere’s place and then did a little tour inside of the Revere house.

The North End is well known for it’s Italian restaurants so we turned to Tripadvisor for a recommendation and quickly settled upon Giancomo’s.  It didn’t open until 5pm but we saw a line forming by 4:30pm.  So I jumped in line and Justin ventured over to a few other sites along the Freedom Trail that he hadn’t yet seen.

We were lucky to be among the first seated for dinner.  The restaurant was small so some people easily waited over an hour outside for a table.  The food really was good and I enjoyed how small (and crowded) the little restaurant was.  We could see the cooks making all the meals – pretty fascinating.

After dinner we walked upon the open market.  There were so many vendors set up selling produce at really low prices.  Oh how I wish I could shop a fresh market like that at home and integrate all the yummy fruits and vegetables into our meals and such great prices.

Justin got roped into joining the act of some street performers outside of Quincy Market.  He was one of five “rich, white guys” to get their groove on to “Uptown Funk”.  I took video and pictures (of course); however, I’m forbidden from posting them.

We made our way back to the hotel and facetimed the kids before calling it a night.  Everything was going smoothly back at home.  So grateful we have such amazing, responsible kiddos.
