Mormon Prom {April 28}

Abigail came home from school on Thursday, April 5 and casually mentioned she was asked to MoPro during seminary.  Her and her close friend Nicole were asked at the same time by two guys that are also best friends.  No one thought to take a picture.  And unlike most 16 year old girls Abigail didn’t even think to shoot her mom a text to let her know.  She’s so chill.

I had a friend in Utah ask what MoPro (Mormon Prom) was and here’s my explanation:  Several stakes come together to host the evening.  It’s much more chill, modest, and inexpensive than what traditional prom has become.  Also just a great opportunity for kids to get together and have fun with other teens that share their same standards.  I think it’s become very popular outside of Utah where there aren’t as many members of the church.

Abigail found a beautiful dress online.  We got lucky and ordered one dress for Abigail for MoPro and one dress for Carly for her middle school graduation and both worked out perfectly.  Love online shopping!  Abigail’s date David is a junior in our ward.  He’s a really nice guy and I’m so glad her first date was with a friend that is just as easy going and fun as she is.

They went with a group of five couples.  Since some of the guys still have restrictions on their licenses they all decided to meet at someone’s house instead of going around picking the girls up individually.  We picked up Nicole and her mom so we could see all the kids off and take a couple pictures.  Here’s Abigail all dressed up and ready to go.  We curled her hair, but it was a rainy evening so the curls didn’t last long.

One of the mom’s had two sisters in town that are professional photographers so we totally scored in the pre-dance photo shoot!

After photos they ate at Abigail’s favorite – Maggiano's and then it was off to the dance for an hour or so and then they polished off the evening playing at a local gymnastics place until midnight.  Such a fun night with a great group of friends!  Abigail even ran into two of her childhood friends from Auburn at the dance.  Such pretty girls!
