It’s been tricky for me to know how to document the experiences that Abigail and Carly are having as they are getting older and having more experiences away from the family. I can’t really tell their story. Thankfully, Carly is a documenter (more with words than pictures) and Abigail is documenter (more with pictures/videos than words). I suppose it’s their story to tell going forward and I hope they make that a priority so they can reflect on those experiences for many years to come.
My brief summary of AFY (Adventures For Youth)…. Carly flew down to Utah EARLY Sunday morning, June 23 with her friend Madi. These girls were set on doing some sort of adventurous EFY verses a traditional EFY this summer. Justin was not at all thrilled with the idea of paying for anything other than EFY, but in the end we compromised and paid about half of the total cost – about the same as a regular EFY (without flights) would have cost us. Carly wanted the AFY experience deeply enough that she was willing to pay $500 dollars toward attending.
My Mom picked the girls up at the SLC airport and they got to spend the day in Utah. Madi hadn’t been to Utah before – ever – so they went to Temple Square Sunday evening.
Carly didn’t have reception in Moab so I wasn’t able to communicate with her during the week. She called me a few times from Madi’s phone. It was fun to facetime her and see what her camp was like.

So glad Carly was able to have this experience! It sounds like it was the perfect fit for my adventurous daughter.
