To celebrate Carly’s 16th birthday she decided to go to DEFY with a bunch of girlfriends on Saturday, February 29. In the end there were only six girls able to go so Justin was able to be the designated driver and I stayed back home to prepare a bunch of yummy treats to have ready for them when they got back to the house. Unfortunately, we didn’t take a SINGLE picture during the jumping fun or while the girls were back at the house afterward. I had planned to take a picture of the girls when we blew out the candles on Carly’s birthday dessert; however, they ate so many snacks that we skipped the dessert altogether.
Carly’s actual birthday was on Wednesday, March 4. Justin took her out to breakfast at the North Bend Bakery and treated her to a Starbucks smoothie.
After school and tennis practice I picked up Carly from the school and drove her to take her final road test. She’d procrastinated wrapping up getting her license because she claimed she’d never have access to a car anyhow because Abigail would always have the van. Well, now that we have four cars that won’t be the case. Carly passed!
Carly is a good driver. On her first drive with an instructor way back in June 2019 the instructor came up to me afterward and said she did a fantastic job and was surprised that her first time behind the wheel was just ten days before. He complimented me and told me that has a lot to do with the parents. In the last nine months I think her parents have pretty much squashed Carly’s confidence which makes her parents not entirely confident letting her out on the road – license or not. That confidence for all of us will come as she gets more practice.
After passing her test we took some pictures with her “16” balloons.
Carly requested fettuccine alfredo for dinner and then we FINALLY got to dig into that oreo madness dessert that we didn’t eat the night of her party.
